GUIDE TO THE ASSEMBLY AND CONNECTION OF THE LED STRIPS

Easy to install and connect and versatile in applications, the LED strips are a practical lighting solution with a truly original aesthetic effect.
The LED strips are used not only as a decorative element to create particular plays of light, but also as the main lighting system, and this thanks to their simplicity of connection, even in areas of the home where installing a normal lamp would be impossible, such as the corners of the ceiling.

Here is a practical guide on how to cut, install and connect the LED strips correctly. These are fairly simple operations, which with a minimum of familiarity in DIY, can be performed at home.

How the LED strips work?

Before moving on to the assembly instructions, let's clarify what the LED strips are and how they work.
Also known as strip LEDs, they consist of a series of chips that are mounted on a strip of copper or aluminum.
In addition to the chips, or the LED lamps that generally are present in a number that varies from 30 to 120 units per meter, the strip contains the resistances that allow the strip to function perfectly and other components which, in fact, increase its effectiveness and duration.
The LED strips, once connected to a power supply, will receive the impulse from the electric current, which will allow the strip to be able to illuminate the chips.
These within them have a semiconductor that will illuminate the chip just as soon as the electric current is received.
It should be emphasized that the aforementioned strips are generally sold in rolls, which may have a different length, generally up to 5 meters.

How to cut a led strip?

Cutting a LED strip does not require special tools, but care must be taken when carrying out this operation.
In the LED strips, generally, there are some cutting points (usually every 5cm), which can be noticed even with the naked eye.
It is precisely in these points that the LED strip must be cut: this for the simple fact that, by cutting in other points, you risk ruining the entire strip and preventing it from functioning properly.
Before proceeding to the cut, however, you need to take the measurements of the piece of the strip that is useful for your needs.
To cut the LED strip, a pair of scissors with a sharp blade is enough; after taking the measurements, you will need to hold the scissors firmly and cut along the cutting point.
Once the LED strip is cut, only a part will be immediately usable as it has exit wires, but using LED strip connectors you can also use the other part, or connect the two portions together.
At this point, it will be possible to proceed with their assembly.

Installation and assembly of the LED strips

Once the LED strips have been cut, it is time to install and install the LED strips.
Installation and assembly are quite simple: generally, the LED strips have a sticker on the back which, once removed, allows it to be attached to a profile or any other surface.
If, on the other hand, this part should be absent, do not panic, as it is sufficient to use the glue to mount them.
The assembly of the LED strips, given their characteristic of flexibility, can take place on "difficult" surfaces such as the corners of ceilings, or on curved surfaces. Thanks to their pleasing aesthetic impact and reduced thickness, they are also suitable for mounting on the surface of furniture, display cases, walk-in closets, and wall units.

Mount the LED strips with aluminum profiles

To further enhance its use, it is recommended to use aluminum led profiles: these are used more frequently because they have different advantages.
One of these is the simple fact that the aforementioned profiles are easy to assemble and above all are very resistant, as well as able to adapt to any type of wall and object.

Furthermore, aluminum tends to protect the LED strip from dust and other elements that could damage it. Aluminum also has a heat dissipation function so the LED strip will tend to last longer thanks to this support.
